My Educational Technology Vision

I am from Thailand , a developing country in Southeast Asia . I never used any computer software or hardware in my English classrooms because the school lacked the technology. I used radio and sound lab sometimes to teach pronunciation to my students.

I think educational technology is very useful and important nowadays. When I first came to America , I took an English class and my teacher, Chauna, used Internet in her classroom. I really liked it. When she taught about Pilgrims, she just pulled up the website and showed information and further readings if students wanted to learn more about them. The educational technology is very convenient in America and it is very easy and common to use the Internet. I hope my country will be like America in the near future.

So is your vision to assist others in your country to develop basic skills and for what purpose? Why do they need to know these things? How will it empower them?

Or is your vision to bring technology to areas that are lacking? Why?

The problem of my country is that we do not have much technology in classrooms. Most Thai instructors have known how to use Internet but they cannot use it in their classroom because of lack of computers and Internet. Money is also the problem. What they could do, they could print it out and show their students what they have got from the Internet.
