ETEC 524: Week 5 Desktop Publishing & Word

This week we started with Word. I have used MS-Word for 10 years and I did not know that there were a lot of functions that could be available in MS-Word. What did I learn from the class on February 13? I have learned several new functions that I never used before. The one that is my favorite is called “Reviewing.” It is under View Menu/Toolbars. I learned how to add my comments. The fascinating thing is we can add voice as well. I was so surprised when I knew that. It was so cool!

Desktop Publishing was new to me when I saw that word from the assignment. I surfed for definition before class but I still did not sure what it was about. After Missi showed how it worked in the class, it looked like PrintShop to me. I used to create my business card, brochures, front pages for my reports, and so on by PrintShop. Desktop Publishing is the new name in the same idea of PrintShop to me. Unfortunately, my computer and laptop do not have this software program. If I have to create a work for this class, I will not be able to do it at home. : (

I have learned several terrific activities. I’m looking forward to studying Dreamweaver/WebPage design and development next week. : )

Hey C.K.

If you're still unsure of the meaning of Desktop publishing - read the resources that are linked in the course notes/lecture in ecollege for this week.

Remember if you don't have the software (publisher) you can design in Word! That's why we used it - to demonstrate how word can be used as a dtp too!

Dr. Wickersham,

Thank you very much for your comments. Now I know what I should do if I would like to create something for assignments.
